Recently all of Swedens top soccer teams fitness coaches gathered to study the latest developments on fitness and coaching. Activio was among the few from the “outside” to be invited to show Activio Sport System.

So, we had the opportunity to shoot a Q&A with Mr. Thomas Lindholm, fitness coach for famous Swedish soccer team AIK. Mr. Lindholm is a professional coach with extensive experience. He speaks about his take on the importance of having the right tools to measure training and get the right feedback. Both for the sake of coaches as well as players.

Benfica picks Activio to track player’s heart rate live
Every top team has it´s challenges on how to train and retain their player’s physical shape and performance. Several of Europe’s top football teams have picked Activios groundbreaking system as the prime tool to develop their players daily exercise and coach them to success, among them Portugal’s Benfica.

Swedish health technology company Activio receives another proof on the fact that new technology combined with traditional forms of training is something that top teams throughout Europe considers to be a crucial investment. In order to better track their players’ shape, Portugal’s Benfica now use the heart rate tracking system from Activio.

The renowned football club’s medical team wants to improve training by keeping track of each player’s heart rate during training sessions. Each player will carry a unique wireless sensor that transmits the heart rate data in real time to a computer. This unique solution enables the coach to collect and analyze heart rate data instantly. Now, coaches can easily find and define the best intensity level for the players when data is presented live during training. This is a new way to tailor the best exercise for each player.

- Monitoring heart rate response is a proven and effective tool for quantifying exercise intensities. Now it is used to make training sessions more effective, says Mr. Tom Magnergard, one of Activios founders.

- Using Activios solution will also contribute to an increase of every player’s motivation and effort to find and retain the peak performance, Mr. Magnergard concludes.

Facts: Activio is a swedish company founded in 2003. Today about 250 systems are installed in 11 countries. Activio was recently picked as the fastest growing young company in Sweden – growth 311%.
